Songwriter Anny Celsi's unique twist of phrase and undeniable melodic hooks have lately been attracting the attention of other recording artists, including alt-country divas Grey DeLisle, Claudia Russell, and Penny Jo Pullus, all of whom have recorded Anny.s songs on recent albums. Her solo release LITTLE BLACK DRESS & OTHER STORIES (Ragazza Music) was co-produced by Kevin Jarvis, a sought- after drummer who has toured and recorded with Steve Wynn, John Wesley Harding, Grant Lee Phillips and Lucinda Williams. Celsi and Jarvis assembled some premier musical talent for the recording, which one reviewer described as .black and white 50.s film-noir in color.. Guest musicians include Steve Barton (Translator), Randy Weeks (Lonesome Strangers), Phil Parlapiano (John Prine, Rod Stewart, Tracy Chapman) and Robert Lloyd (Steve Wynn, Victoria Williams). Two songs previously recorded with producer Marvin Etzioni were included, including the title song, which expresses the spirit of the entire album: "No matter what life throws at you, you've got to put on your little black dress and keep going. The woman in that song can change a tire in that dress if she has to. And she'll still look good, and she won't spill her Martini, either."
Anny Celsi was selected for inclusion on "Chapter One: Songs Inspired
by Literature," a compilation CD produced by the SIBL Project (www.siblproject.org);
the CD also featured tracks by Aimee Mann, Suzanne Vega and Bruce Springsteen.
She has performed throughout the U.S., opening shows for such artists as Steve
Forbert, Amy Rigby, Tish Hinojosa, Randy Weeks and Duane Jarvis. In 2004 she
made her European debut guesting onstage at the Blue Highways Festival in Utrecht,
